Last night over 1000 young Americans of every color, creed, and background came to hear Hillary speak. Many of them had never come to a political event before, but were so moved by Hillary's message that they came together for the first time to participate in changing the nation.
Hillary, a champion of issues that affect young people, spoke at length about student loan repayment, health care, freeing the U.S. from its failed energy policies, and restoring Americans' faith in government. Her energy was infectious, and everyone walked out feeling empowered that Hillary's vision for tomorrow will profoundly change the world we live in.
In Hillary's 1969 Commencement Speech there is a phrase she used that is so relevant for young people today. She talked about how there had been a breech, a "trust bust" between her generation and the Nixon administration. 38 years later, young voters are looking for the same things Hillary was looking for in a leader when she was 18 years old: integrity and trust. Ironically, it is these very qualities that we have found in our future President, Hillary Clinton.
The HillBlazers started out as a conversation between a few of us who were interested in giving voice to young voters. This conversation resulted in a national movement of young Hillary supporters from all walks of life.
In a mere 12 months, young people are now engaged in every aspect of Hillary's campaign. From making phone calls, to traipsing through the snow in New Hampshire, to writing blogs and opeds- HillBlazers everywhere are exercising their power to make a difference in deciding who will be our next President.
The HillBlazers are excited about the journey we are embarking on together, invigorated about the movement we represent, and confident that as President, Hillary will once again bring integrity and trust back to governance. We believe that this is Our Time.
