Polling Memo: The Shift to Hillary

by Mark Penn, Chief Strategist
3/20/2008 11:08:14 AM

There are some pretty big changes happening out there with the voters.  Barack Obama recently declared himself the frontrunner in the race, although there are 10 contests remaining and MI and FL have not yet been decided. But a look at the polls shows that Sen. Obama’s lead nationally with Democrats has been evaporating.  The Gallup daily tracking poll shows Hillary leading Sen. Obama among Democrats by 7 points, and the latest Zogby/Reuters poll has Sen. Obama’s lead down from 14 points last month to just 3 points now. This suggests a strong swing in momentum in the race to Hillary since the Texas and Ohio primaries earlier this month.

The more that the voters learn about Barack Obama, the more his ability to beat John McCain is declining compared to Hillary.  For a long time we have explained that poll numbers for a candidate who has not yet been vetted or tested are not firm numbers, and we are beginning to see that clearly.  Just a month ago, the Obama campaign claimed that the polls showed Barack Obama doing better than Hillary against Sen. McCain. Now such numbers are a lot harder to find.

In the latest USA Today/Gallup poll, Hillary leads John McCain by 5 points (Hillary 51 / McCain 46) while Sen. Obama is only 2 points ahead of Sen. McCain (Obama 49 / McCain 47).  This is a reversal from February, when Sen. McCain led Hillary by 4 points.  The latest CNN poll also shows that Hillary leads Sen. McCain by a bigger margin than Barack Obama.

In several key states, Hillary is a stronger general election candidate than Barack Obama against John McCain.  For example, the latest Survey USA poll has Hillary leading Sen. McCain by 6 points in Ohio while Sen. Obama trails Sen. McCain by 7 points.  In Kentucky, Hillary’s margin against Sen. McCain is 26 points better than Barack Obama’s.  In Missouri, Sen. Obama lags John McCain by 14 points while Hillary comes within 2 points of Sen. McCain.  In Florida, the latest PPP poll shows Barack Obama losing to John McCain by 11 points while Hillary comes within 4 points of Sen. McCain.  Last week's University of Central Arkansas poll showed Hillary leading Sen. Sen. McCain by 15 points in that state while Sen. Obama trails Sen. McCain by 16 points.  And the latest Rasmussen poll showed Hillary leading Sen. McCain by 11 points in New Jersey while Sen. Obama trails Sen. McCain by 2 points.

Moreover, 24 percent of Florida Democrats say that if Florida's delegates are not counted at the Democratic convention in August, they are less likely to vote for a Democrat in November, according to the latest St. Petersburg Times/Bay News 9/Miami Herald poll.  Since Florida is the single largest and most important swing state in the country and nearly 1.8 million Florida Democrats voted in the January primary, Democrats must find a solution to allow Florida's delegates to count if we are to have any hope of winning in November.

And in the crucial state of Pennsylvania – the next Democratic primary battleground and the biggest state which has not yet voted – the latest Quinnipiac poll shows Hillary doubling her Democratic primary lead over Barack Obama from 6 points to 12 points.  In Pennsylvania, Hillary improved among men, maintained her 24 point advantage among women, and improved among younger, older, more educated and less educated voters.  She leads in every region across the state (NE, SE, NW, SW, Central, Alleghany) with the exception of Philadelphia.

Ultimately, this Democratic nominating process is meant to select the candidate who will: a) be the best president – the best commander-in-chief, steward of the economy, and exercise leadership; b) defeat John McCain; and c) promote and defend core Democratic principles such as universal health care. On all three fronts, Hillary is the best choice for the Democratic Party.

Hillary is the runaway leader on most qualified to be commander-in-chief.  In the Ohio exit poll, 60 percent of Democratic primary voters said Hillary was most qualified to be commander-in-chief, compared with 37 percent for Barack Obama.  In Texas, she led by 16 points, and in most other states, she led by 10 points or more.  She also won among those who said the economy was the most important issue – by 12 points in Ohio, for example.  And in the latest CNN poll, more voters say Hillary would do a good job on the economy than Barack Obama or John McCain.  Finally, in the latest USA Today/Gallup poll, Hillary leads Barack Obama on strong and decisive leadership, managing the government effectively and having a clear plan for solving the country’s problems.

      • FL VOTER

I write them as well, often, and my response is simple:

If you do not recognize my vote, then I will no longer recognize you, the Democratic Party, as my party.  And I will not vote for a nominee that has not been vetted and voted for by all citizens of the United States.

Simple, count me in, or I will count you out.

      • POSS ARE SUPER POSITIVE

If you look at the change in Polls, even in those states where BO won significantly, Hillary has in many cases reversed the numbers, for example she is leading in many states 60+ to 35-40 to BO.

If this continues Hillary could very well overtake the competitior by double digit leads and win the delegate count.  This is going to be hard fought, but who do we all know who can maintain and sustain a long and strong fight?

        Yep!  Hill Yeah!

            • Me too

I think it is a great idea.  If we all write in Hillary's name in the general election, it will be a huge message to the world that millions of us believed in her even if the DNC and the superdelegates did not.

Go Hill fans...let our voices be heard.

            • Write in Hillary

I still believe Hillary will win this primary but if she doesn't I will do a write in vote for her.  If Obama gets the nomination someone needs to organize a write in campaign for Hillary.  We need her to be our next President.

              • Hey, I have a thought

If Hillary Clinton is not the nominee, what if she suddenly ran on an independent ticket? There is no doubt in my mind that she would win by a landslide! :) Actually, I do believe she is going to be the Democratic nominee, but the DNC has lost my respect. Why did they not vet her opponent? If they had, we would not be in this dilemma at all.

Hillary Clinton 2008, WHATEVER IT TAKES!

                • I will hold true to the Democratic Party

If Hillary is the nominee.  I think her running Independant, should she not get the nomination is a great idea.  I am learning as I go.  I myself have never felt so strongly about an Election or Hillary as I do now.  We need to donate whatever we can $1.00 or higher.  Every little bit helps.  We need to encourage our friends to write to editors, DNC, your State DNC, whoever it takes to make them understand, we the voters are going to make this a fight along Hillary's side.

          • Vote for Hillary or No Vote

I will vote for Hillary no matter what and vote for nobody else. If she is nominated, I can see the party is not doing a fair job in counting the voting. Let Florida and Michigan IN! Many in my friends' and families circle share the same feeling with me.

I was thinking of voting for McCain if BO got nominated,  last night I saw Hillary at the American Legion Post 16 in Huntington, WV. WOW I was impressed!
She answered questions from our Veterans with compassion and I believe everyone there was convienced -- She is the only one we want to be our Next President! Go Hillary!  All The Way!

          • Slow Down

I love Hillary Clinton and all she represents. I have donated money, campaigned for her, sent emails, made calls and even gotten into office debates over this Clinton vs. Obama issue. I am happy to hear that everyone is supporting Hillary and is excited about this process. However, let's not lose site of the real enemy here . . . Repubs! We cannot, should not and will not stand on the side lines and let McCain or any other member of the right wing party drive us down the same old road again.

We are Hillary supporters and true die hards but we are also Democrats and more importantly Citizens of this great country and Hillary would never advocate for use to jump ship and reject our core values.

If you want Hillary to win, DONATE MONEY TODAY AND EVERY DAY, make calls, send emails and fight the good fight but don't give up on our nation.

            • The polling suggest otherwise

There is considerable polling showing shifts towards McCain in some very key states if Obama is the nominee. A lot of people, and some of the most key Demographics in the electorate show a strong swing to McCain if Obama is the nominee.

And these are all in key swing states that are absolutely necessary to win in November.

Florida was showing a clear swing to Clinton until the debacle of not seating their delegates became an issue. As is Michigan. Nothing is more revealing than recent polling in Pennsylvania, a longtime swing state that has always swung Democrat in the last twenty years shows it going to McCain by a rather good margin with an Obama nomination.

Picking a nominee seems the easy part to Democrats who spend a lot of time posting on political boards.

It is something else to other people who only pay attention to politics in the two or three days prior to getting into a voting booth and making a selection.

There are a lot of people are not as committed to one party or the other, but look at the candidate directly. They are called "swing voters" and they are called that for a very good reason.

Oftentimes they make the election. And right now, the best option to winning in November is Clinton, not Obama.

Mr Zogby, of polling fame, said that polls cannot predict anything, but if several polls show movement in a certain direction, you can tell the way things are trending and nothing gives McCain as much hope of a win in November as an Obama nomination. Of course conservative pundits are making the attempt to divert attention by stating that the Republicans are hoping to run against Clinton. You certainly would not expect the Republicans to openly reveal their game plan. Which means that more likely than not, they are worrying about a Clinton nomination, not one for Obama.

You can tell by all of the negative conservative focus on Clinton, while Obama is curiously left alone by them.

            • I used basically the same letter

Hillary Responders need rebuttles, this was the new letter....

              To Whom This May Concern:

I have been a democrat for over 10 years.  I am a minority in 2 ways.  Did I ever think the odds were stacked against me, no?  I was raised to be a person and respect other people, not for their race, gender, etc.  I chose my mentors carefully, and took opportunities when I had them.  I embrace History, if it were not for the History of this Country I would not be where I am today.  I did not say I approved of all History in the past, but the fact is History has me where I am today.  If anyone was ever racist toward me in my lifetime, I was unaware.  I have always had respect from people in this Country.
In the beginning of this race I was all for Obama, he is very intelligent and articulate.  During the course of this race I researched and have come to the conclusion that the DNC is letting voter’s rights be dismissed in Fl/Mi. Hillary is the best candidate for myself. The DNC is letting The Democratic Party DOWN!

Absolutely go to <www.delegatehub.com> as often as you can and continue to urge these powerful Democrats to do what is best for the country! To support the most qualified, experienced and electable leader we are lucky enough to have running for President! Hillary all the way!

      • FL Plan

I think the plan to count 1/2 the delegates in Florida by the Jan election makes sense.

The voters should get some voice in the nomination,
but if there is NO punishment for moving up the primary then next time every state will ignore the calendar set up by the DNC.

by Jim from Massachusetts at 3/20/2008 1:26:16 PM

        • SHOULD NOT MATTER

Posturing of states seems a little silly to me, as do the delegates.  If you want a true sense of who the American people want as their nominee and their president then you go by popular vote.

1/2 the delegates means that half don't count.  And how would they be split?  As a FL voter, having placed my vote for Hillary, as did the majority of FL voters, then she should get the majority of delegates.

While many argue that that would not be fair because they did not campaign there, I feel that is a hollow arguement.  There have been more than 20 nationally televised debates and hours and hours of coverage, all favorable to BO at the point of the FL election, most unfavorable to Hillary.

The FL election in its outcome was fair and representative.  If anything they should seat them as they stand now.

MI is another story.  They should have a revote with both candidates on the slate.

          by HILL4PRES08 at 3/20/2008 7:23:48 PM

          • YES !

I agree! I dont understand why the media isn't saying that if delegates from FL and MI were to count that she could very well be winning right now... !! In popular vote, delegate and super delegate count...
WHY ISN'T THAT IDEA BEING THROW ACROSS THE NEWS ???

by nandogm at 3/21/2008 11:08:06 PM

          • They need to count, both of em

MI Is another story, but he wasn't on the ballot, oh well, so she should win them all.  Florida she won but not by enough, so he gets some too.  Hillary needs enough going into August to be close or ahead.  We need these states counted, contact your Governors and state Senate and Representatives to take a stand - this NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

            HILLARY 08

by Dust at 3/22/2008 2:27:52 AM

        • No it doesn't make sense

50% of the delegates to be seated is not fair. Where does the number 50% come from?
Seat ALL FL and MI delegates. As for the "punishment" let DNC think one that won't hurt the party.

by Definitely Hillary at 3/20/2008 7:29:00 PM

        • Counting the votes as cast in the Jan.29 Primary

The calendar set up by the DNC is inappropriate.  Iowa is a very small state with a population that is not representative of the rest of the country.  Why should they determine who the nominee should be based on the momentum they cause?  Although I am a Florida voter who had nothing to do with the change of date, it was, after all, only 4 days short of Feb 5, I believe our record number of Democrat votes should count IN TOTO.

How can the USA send money and troops all over the world so that people can have rights -- SUCH AS VOTING -- yet we won't spend money to let OUR OWN CITIZENS of Florida and Michigan have those SAME RIGHTS!!!!!!  It's a disgrace.

We need to start a movement and get these votes counted. I live in FL although I'm registered to vote in VA and if we don't get these 2.5 million voices heard we will NOT win in November. This is appauling the Obama camp talks about playing politics hello this is 2.5 million voters that have to be counted. They voted fair and square. What else can we do? I wrote the DNC and emailed FL delegates and the FL Democratic Party.

By the way looks like Hillary really does have the momentum, lets keep giving so she can keep it up.

I voted for George McGovern.  That dates me but I have been a Democrat a long time.  My time and money have been given to local and national campaigns because I believe in the platform of the Democratic party.

The DNC decision to throw away my vote in Florida is unacceptable.  The Dems in this state did everything they could to stop the early vote but were unsuccessful.  To be striped of our delegates is disgraceful and unAmerican.  I made an informed decision when I went to the polls on January 29 and so did almost 2 million Floridians.

If my right as a US citizen to vote is taken from me - I will also change my affiliation to Independent in protest to the DNC decision.  In good conscience I cannot vote for John McCain but I will stay home if Hillary is not the Democratic nominee.

    • Allowing Michigan and Florida delegates to be seated

I'm with you, Hillary AllTheWay. I have yet to figure out the reasoning behind removing delegates from Michigan and Florida to punish the State Dem. Parties for setting up their primaries too early. Wasn't there some other way of punishing these parties without taking it out on the voters? How could this be good for the Democratic Party as a whole? These disenfranchised voters have a right to be heard. I'm afraid this decision by the DNC is going to come back around in November and bite them in the ... if it is not reversed before the Dem. Convention.

I am a 43 year old Africian Americian female.  I have supported Hillary Clinton for 16 years i knew i was going to vote for her before I knew I was going to vote for her husband.  I sometimes feel alone because I feel as though I have to either defend my support of Hillary or defend my race.  I am not so sure I will be able to vote for Sen, Obama if he is the nominee.  I think The Democrats had better find a way to sit Flordia and Michigan or they will lose again.

    • My vote is for Hillary!

I feel truly inspired by Sen. Clinton. Today I donated $50 and not even sure how much I have donated throughout her campaign. My reason to support Senator Clinton comes from her undeniable commitment and passion to this country.  I'm Hispanic but I think my race comes secondary since I consider myself as an American first and then as a Latino. I'm so thankful to this country for all the opportunities that have been given to me and I just feel so fortunate to be part of it. Please don't feel like we are not supporting Sen. Clinton if we are not blogging like her Opponent's side is doing. We are a silence force but we need to remain strong, we are almost there, have great faith in our great candidate. She is a fighter!! Vamos Hillary!

      • You are awsome...

Latinos4Hillary...how true.  We are Americans first and then Hispanics.
I am going to make a $50.00 donation in your honor today and I would like to ask all of you who read these blogs to do the same.
If you can't $50.00 whatever you can.  It is a strecht for me too, however, I feel it is money well spent.

Lets all follow Latinos4Hillary and donate today.

    • Give em Hill! Hillary

If Hillary's name was not on the ballot during that whole DNC snit in Michigan, I would have never voted Democrat again.
Michigan has a resource -- water.  The ability for a state, especially a state like Michigan to self-govern has never been more important than now.  In Michigan, we have a competent female governor, who like Ms. Clinton is strong.  Ms. Clinton's ability to allow others to have the right to vote how they will.  She stands by her decisions, she knows how to use the voting buttons in the Senate, and she stood by her family (even when it got tough) all make her the best person for the job.
      Give em Hill! Hillary

    • Let's Act Up !

Here is what get's me! Faireness! Can't we get a petition going for all of the disenfranchised caucus goers who were shut out in places like Texas. I heard numerous reports about Clinton supporters who did not even get the chance to be heard! Shouldn't this matter! Also, like in Ohio, I realize Hillary won but, Obama had a fit that the weather was bad and threatened to sue if polls were not left open until 9:00 in " his areas." So, polls were left open in "his areas" while all other polls were shut down, or already closed. That is not fair! If we could somehow start a petiton about fairness, get it signed by disenfranchised cacus goers to include elderly and handicapped (who could not get out) and folks who were just plain shut out! couldn't this add to the Mich. Fla. argument on disenfranchisement to be presented to the DNC!

      • Caucus Goers

I do hope you folks who experienced "shut downs" during the Texas Caucus will file a formal complaint.
I have heard this about all of the caucuses.  I am not sure why and how this happens, however, it is so important to let the Hillary campaign know ASAP.  I don't know how many more caucuses are on the agenda from now until the end of the primaries, I hope none.  I do feel it is very important to report oddities to Hillary's campaign.

      • Texas Ain't Over Yet

We do our first delegate convention this weekend, and I am happy to say I will be there.  Basically we do another write in and then each candidate will be allocated the appropriate number of delegates to go to the State Convention in June.  Where I live more Clinton supporters are signing up than Obama.  Should I get elected to go to the state convention, I am happy to put out the expense and make sure Hillary gets her vote.

by Hillary AllTheWay at 3/25/2008 11:16:38 PM

    • Never give up!

I went to the site and signed the petition. Let me tell you something....I coached football for years.  There is a moment in every team's experience where it seems bleak.....everyone's tired, feels like you're stuck in mud, tensions are high, people close to you may opt out, others are telling you to consider packing it in.......It's in those moments truly great leaders are afforded the opportunity to truly lead!  Push when you can't push anymore, believe when you've no right to believe anymore, and keep your eyes on the prize you decided would be yours at the outset.  Keep steppin'!!!!

    Keep the Faith

Don't get discouraged at all!  As this update shows, Hillary Clinton is gaining support.

A candidate needs 270 electoral votes to win the White House.

To Date, based on the states that the candidates have won:

Senator Clinton = 263 (yes this includes Fl and MI because they do in fact matter!)

    Senator Obama = 202

And that is before the recent set of controversy plaguing Senator Obama.

    Use this link http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/inte...

to go and see the country layout for yourself.

Keep up the support - call - donate - blog - we will not get the White House in November without her!!

by MargeNY at 3/20/2008 11:19:24 AM

    • Really an Eye Opener!

Marge, thanks for the link to the electoral college map.  What an eye opener!  If THAT doesn't just say it all, I don't know what does.  Hillary MUST win the democratic nomination for President or the democratic party is in a HEAP of trouble!  We all need to e-mail the DNC today and let them know what a horrendous mistake it will be not to seat those Michigan and Floriday delegates.

Please follow Marge's link to this map and see for yourselves.  I had no idea and I've been following these blogs and donating to Hillary's campaign from day one!

Folks, we will not be robbed of this nomination.  It's not right for our country and certainly not fair to the voters in Michigan and Florida!

by ldyoung at 3/20/2008 1:37:29 PM

    • THIS IS GREAT! LET'S ALL SEND THIS TO THE DNC!

THANKS MARGENY, JUST VISITED THIS SITE AND HILLARY CLEARLY HAS THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES TO WIN!  WE SHOULD ALL SEND THIS SITE TO THE DNC AND SUPER DELEGATES AS A VISUAL REMINDER THAT HILLARY SHOULD HAVE THE NOMINATION!  GO HILLARY!

    Way to go Senator Clinton!

    Senator,
I am so happy and joyous to see this turn of events.
Two weeks ago, one of us called me and was asking me why the senator has not stepped down for her opponent.
I said the senator will not step down ( there is no reason for her to)  because the voters, even her opponent's supporters want her to continue! I said something which I am happy I did say ' Something is coming up which will make the choice much clearer and then we will have a nominee wrap it up soon afterwards'

I am so grateful for this shift and pray it continues. I think we are getting towards the 'saxophone moment'.

Let's get organized in West Virginia and in North Carolina now. The polls look great in West virginia and I know that Hillary has gained in North Carolina.

Please send President Clinton to these two states as soon as you can. He is a great Embassador for her. Send Chelsea to Indiana with Hillary.

GO, GO, GO, all the way to the White House.

by LOA at 3/20/2008 12:09:15 PM

    • LETS CHALLENGE OURSELVES

We need to realize that we need huge wins.  I see the momentum shifting to Hillary.  But let's not get comfortable we need BIG WINS.  Encourage as many people as you can to help.  Remind them that they can help from the comforts of home by either phonebanking or donating even if you live far and can't travel. Remind fellow supporters that weekend calls are free on cell phones and the last I checked most mobile phone plans give free long distance.

Buy extra Clinton buttons in bulk for a cheaper price and give them to people.  When I was volunteering in Texas people would always ask
ask for buttons so I am buying tons for Pennsylvania.  SO GETTING BACK TO PENNSYLVANIA lets act like we are far behind and work like heck and lets aim for 70% for Clinton.  It can happen!

    White House win

There are 3 candidates to choose from for President and of the three Hillary Clinton is clearly the candidate of choice of all Americans and is the most electable come November.  Hillary is the only Democratic candidate that can capture the White House in the general election where there will be no caucuses.

by Roger In Georgia at 3/20/2008 11:28:25 AM

    Hillary's Qualities

I think the American public is now taking a second and more realistic look at Sen. Obama.  I wish it hadn't taken them so long to do so.  Now people are realizing that his inexperience in so many areas is causing a problem for the Democratics and the country as a whole.  Hillary's command of issues and her readiness to be commander-in-chief are being showcased next to her opponent (both opponents)and she is shining.  Keep up the momentum, Hillary.  We are with you 100%!

by Susan for Hillary at 3/20/2008 11:29:49 AM

IF MEDIA HADN'T GIVEN OBAMA FREE PASS, HILLARY WOULD BE THE NOMINEE ALREADY!!!!

If the media had not given Obama a total free pass for over a year, he would not have won as many states and delegates as he did.  As you said, it is very easy to think higher of a person who is totally unknown and not vetted!  Now that some skeletons are walking out of Obama's closet, the voters realize he is not a good choice for President of the United States.

Congratulations to Hillary on these wonderful poll numbers!!  May they continue to grow higher day by day!!

    Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN

Anderson did an interview with BO in last evening show, and Anderson said offer was made to BO's  opponent.  It is a popular show at prime time, and why not to accept?  BO has turned every opportunity to his campaign activity.

HRC may address what she has done in the past 35 years, and what she will do as President.  What keeps her going, and makes her come back again and again in this campaign.  Talking about grassroot, talking about your website... The more people to know you, to see you, to hear from you, the more comparisons can be made.

But before that, CNN needs to be more fare, and they should update delegates count more often, so that one does not have to go to Foxnews or MSNBC all the time.

    Steadfast

Since day one, there has not been any doubt in my mind, that Sen. Clinton is the Candidate who is fit for the White House. In an election as important as this one, the steadfast supporters have stood by Sen. Clinton, and still as of today stands firmly rooted in the fact, that Sen. Clinton is the fittest Candidate for this job.

We do not have time to train a commander and chief who does not have the experience and knowledge from day one to lead our service men and women. We do not have time to siff through closet skeletons to figure out if we have picked the correct individual. We only have time to tackle the issues that matter starting on day one.

Let's donate at a steady pace to let our campaign move forward, and let's take Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton all the way to the White House.

    Getting Real

I think that many Democrats are starting to Get Real about the choice we have before us.  A review of our opponent shows a genuine inconsistency between words and actions.

I had supported Barack Obama initially, but Hillary won me over in the weeks before her remarkable comebacks in TX and OH.  Why?  First, because I finally began to see what a strong role the media had played in supressing her campaign.  And second, because I began to notice the inconsistency between our opponent's words and actions.

What clinched it for me was reading Hillary's healthcare plan, and comparing to her opponents'.  It's clear, it's concrete, it anticipates the hurdles, and it states in clear, well-researched financial terms what it will cost and how we will pay for it.

You just can't get that degree of precision and substance from the other side!

by bobbank at 3/20/2008 12:01:09 PM

    • Yea Bobbank!

Very well put Bobbank. It's nice to know there are thoughtful, intelligent voters out there who come to their own conclusions. I think so many people get caught up in hype and emotion, and do not use critical analysis. The big disappointment is the overwhelming complicity by the media. I've never seen anything like it. I am just hoping, as we move forward, that more people like you can see fact from fiction. Words do not solve problems. We judge people in our own lives based on their actions. The same should obviously hold true for the President.

by fif at 3/20/2008 3:30:56 PM

    • You are an INFORMED voter, Bobbank

You definitely refused to "go with the flow." You read the information for yourself and made up your own mind. We're excited that you saw in Hillary what we see in her - her wisdom, brilliance and determination.

Thanks for a great input to this blog.

by lumngwa at 3/20/2008 3:38:07 PM

    • yes bobbank,

you are right about her healthcare plan, it is by far the best. In fact, it has been analyzed by health economists and found to give more bang for the buck than BO's plan... in fact, it will insure 2 times more people per dollar than the other guy's plan.

    This is expected

In Ohio, Senator Clitnon said that her win there and in RI ( and I can add Texas) was for all thoughs who were knocked down but never stayed down, counted out but never gave up. . . Those words explained and her actions demostrated that she is a fighter. That is the type of fighter we need in a President today. What Americans are seeing now is that out of all three, she is THE fighter.

I watch it over and over, it is so inspiring. It hits right to the heart. We have all been there. I am so happy that the polls are reflecting an increase for Hillary.

I have spoken to several people that voted for the opponent, but now wish that the votes could be taken back. They all tell me that he is lacking judgement and is not representing all Americans. We need a President that will represent all Americans, and that is.... Hillary Rodham Clinton.

    Florida an Michigan

You must hold new primaries in Florida and Michigan; it is disconcerting that there is even a debate about this.  The winner of these new primaries would very likely be the next presidential nominee of the Democratic Party.  As concluded in "USA Today," "Doing nothing would leave key decisions up to the party insiders on the Democrats' Rules and Bylaws Committee. Agreeing to seat some or all the delegates now, based on the lopsided "wins" in January for Clinton, would be grossly unfair. Seating them after one of the candidates has won, or splitting them 50-50 now, would give delegates a place at the convention but would deny voters a voice.

The way out of this mess is to vote over."

    • Prediction Hillary will be the democratic norminee

Last night I had a conviction that Hillary will be judged the democratic nominee, owing to the fact that she is more electable and likely to beat John McCain in November 2008. She will be elected  even though she may not have the most delegates. This is only a prediction.

I have been praying for Hillary for a long time because I believe she is sincere in her desire to help others. Why else would she continue to put up with all the nonsense from the media? She is so strong and I truly admire her. It will take a woman like Hillary to heal this country.

    Must keep up the momentum

We should be encouraged but there are too many weeks until the primaries to rely on the polls.  We must keep up the momentum and work as hard as we can to tell others why we support Hillary.

And don't forget to ensure that voters are registered properly in the state where you are working.  In PA, voters MUST be registered as a Democrat by March 24 if they want to vote for Hillary next month.  Voters can get the form, fill it out, and mail it at their local post office.  I heard that early voting has already started in NC.

If we keep our eye on the ball, we will prevail.  To paraphrase Robert Frost "we have miles to go before we sleep".  I'm encouraged that Hillary is visiting all the primary states.  How did it go in WV yesterday?

by taylorgrob at 3/20/2008 1:02:29 PM

    • I Absolutely Agree....

There are several weeks left before these important primaries and we SHOULD NOT get comfortable with the poll results as comforting as they are. This is too important.

We need to keep pushing this until all of this is over and then we can sit back and relax.

Right now there is too much work to be done and I urge ALL OF YOU, HILLARY SUPPORTERS to please please please continue with your phone calls, campaigning, donating even going door to door if you have to, Hillary needs us to and if all goes well, we will reap the rewards of our hard work.

We love you Hillary and WE WILL continue fighting for you.

I am as proud of Hillary as everybody else.  She has done so many outstanding things for our nation, especially for children, women and Vets.  Its about time that people are seeing what we all have known all along.
It is so unfair that the media has been so biased, but now if they want to interview her,
given the fact that it's National Womens' Month, let Hillary promote herself on their dime.  She has a wonderful resume, with excellent ideas how to get this nation back on track, which her opponents do not.. strike now while the iron is hot.
Anyway just donated, and will donate tomorrow night at our first meeting for Hillary in Goldsboro NC.   I am very excited to get started.

    • Must keep the momentum going

      taylorgrob!
You are right about the time between now and the actual primaries and that we cannot assume anything.  While we need all of the encouraging news, we cannot even assume that we will win PA.  EVERY STATE CARRIES "SHARES" of delegates and we cannot let any delagate get away by assumption.

That being said we have to keep moving AHEAD and getting groundtroops going in all of the remaining states!  If Hillary has the strength she has shown us we have to have the strength to keep fighting to our maximum and not be "outflanked".

We love Hillary and know she is the one person who can actually change this country like no other president before her.  I say this confidently, because I do not believe that we will go away once she takes office.  We will go out and continue the work that must be done across the nation to change it around both politically, socially, and economically...Hillary has awoken within us what we also must do for our country.

Hill Family...lets keep doing whatever we can as individuals and as a group!

The Media Keeps Trying To Down Hillary

I am so tired of reading how Hillary's chances are so slim.  They say her chances are norrowing.  It is just the oppisite. I can't wait untill we win this election and they have mud in their faces.  I have never seen such one sidedness if my life.  I have signed all petitions telling the Democratic Party that if they do not protect the voting rights of all I wll no longer be a member of the party.  I have donated on a consistant basis. I have prayed and I have only thought positive thoughts.  Hillary will be our next President as she should be because she will not give up! She knows how to hold her head high!

Keep calling, donating, and lighting those candles because we know it is working
