This past weekend we celebrated the Kentucky Derby here in Louisville. It was amazing! There were over 157,000 people in attendance including Chelsea Clinton and our Campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe.  Saturday turned out to be a beautiful spring day for our teams of dedicated volunteers who passed out Hillary stickers and buttons to the Derby revelers at Churchill Downs. The enthusiasm and excitement for Hillary and the coming primary is palpable here in Louisville and throughout Kentucky. Kentuckians are very proud to play such an important role in the 2008 presidential nomination cycle -- this could be seen by the positive response and the excitement we encountered at the Derby.  People were very happy to wear our Hillary gear with pride and eager to sign up and hear about all of our volunteer opportunities.

During the Derby, one of our visibility teams had a very exciting moment. While the unsuspecting volunteers were going about their business signing up new volunteers and passing out buttons, a car pulled to the side of the road and the window rolled down.  A nice young woman leaned out the window and complemented our signs.  Well, to the excitement of us all...it was Chelsea Clinton!  She stopped by to show her support and to thank us for our day’s work.  I have to admit, it was the highlight of our day. Of course she looked great in her traditional Derby hat. You go girl!

    • Kentucky Women Vote Hilary

We need to unite as women and show our support. No one really metions it but we need a WOMAN in the white house because it will take someone like Hilary to deal with issues that affect everyday working moms like us. And working moms means ALL moms because even when you stay at home you have a full time job. We need someone who understands how hard it is to feed the kids (ground chuck is now a luxury!)We need someone who is tough but has the compassion and heart to see the loss of a child at war. We need to start raising this issue -i.e. the fact that Hilary is up against a the "good old boys" who want things the way they are (run by them and for them!)

    • Superdelegates, I think we needd to do more that just petitions

We need to have a big/large/huge demonstration to put some pressure on DNC to do something NOW about Florida and Michigan, and to ask the superdelegates to stop putting pressure on Hillary by changing sides.

by Marita at 5/7/2008 8:23:49 PM

      • Superdelegates

Yes, I agree. We need a public forum to demand DNC to count the votes in FL and MI. It's anti-democratic to disfrenchize millions of voters from these two states.  We should organize some events all over the country to demand the delegates be seated in the convention.

        by HRvictory08 at 5/9/2008 11:14:25 PM

      • DNC

We ask Countries across the world to have free and open elections so why should we do less.  When people get the feeling delegates instead of votes count we are in trouble! This has been an exciting campaign and can be a winner in the fall.  I have alot of Republican friends that will vote & support Hillary because she is a leader how about you?  Most will not support Obama because they don't feel he is ready for the task.

    Kentucky Women Vote Hilary

We need a woman in the white house. Only a woman understands the real tragedy of losing a child to war, or how terrible it is to not be able to feed your children. It is terrible when ground chuck becomes a luxury and you cannot even afford to drive to work. We need to start talking about Hilary's greatest asset - she is a strong, tough, take no hostages WOMAN.

by yasminv at 5/7/2008 10:10:12 AM

    • Plase Kentucky vote wisely, vote Hillary!

We need a win in all the coming primaries. Hillary needs a boost.

Obama on CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer

During the interview with Wolf Blitzer tonight, Obama was discussing tax breaks for the middle class.During the conversation he stated that a MAN who makes $100,000. or less per year would have approximately $1,000. more take home pay,  under his administration. He then went on to say that in comparing a teacher's take home pay, SHE would have a better income.....Notice the man with a $100,000. or less and a TEACHER, SHE????? In addition, I am a citizen, I am a Democrat living in Kentucky.  Why do the news media, especially CNN, want my canidate of choice, Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race as the Democrat Nominee?  Doesn't my vote count? Don't we deserve a chance to vote, or should only the states that have had their primaries thus far, choose our nominee?  That stinks!  If we Democrats in Kentucky, Florida, Michagan, Virginia, and the other states that have not had their Primary election to date,do not have a vote, why should we vote in November? The Democratic Party should re visit their election procedures? I have always been a Democrat, but if I do not have the right to vote, Why should I remain a Democrat?

    • I am changing parties

The delegates, the super-D, the DNC,the Obama campaign, and the media "pundits" are making a lot of noise. They do this so that Hillary quits. Why should you? We, the voters are behind you for a reason

Do not listen to them Hillary! Are they doing this because you are a woman? I sure think so, you have all the right to play the gender race, right? I truly think that the DNC would have shown leadership to resolve the Florida and Michigan fiasco if you were a man. You are not the divider, the DNC and all the ones who launched
this so unfair campaign are the ones to be blamed for he division of the Democratic? party.

    • The Right To Vote!

I agree with you! Read this:
I am an American and part of America, I don't know about the other 5 million or more  Americans that haven't voted yet and have not made their choice, but I do know that I will not have that right taken away from me by Obama and Edwards saying that America has made their choice.  I have not voted yet, why can't my voice be heard and the voices of all America?  Is this the way Obama is going to run this country if he is president?  Taking our right to vote away from us?  America has NOT made their choice and neither has the delegates or super delegates.  (I think they might be a wee bit upset about having their vote taken away by Obama and Edwards as well!) I, one small voice am challenging Obama and Edwards to retract that statement, it is false and untrue  All of America has not made their choice!  This is unconstitutional and against the morals and values of all Americans.  America let your voices be heard and let no one take that away from you!  Every one of us counts no matter how small our voices are!  I request a retraction of that statement immediately under the constitution of this United States!

    Kentucky

Senator Clinton is the better choice!  I love how she answers questions with such ease.  That's because she is so knowledgeable about the issues.  Come on Kentucky, hire Senator Clinton!!!

    • We Must Continue the Work for Hillary

I have heard that the media plans to start giving out false stats in the polls so that the Hillary supporters will think she's way ahead and thus stop working for Hillary, We Must Not be fooled into such maddness. Make calls, donate, travel, please do whatever you can because Hillary needs atleast 60% but we can all shoot for 100% and it can happen, if we are only willing to try and never give up!

convincing friends to vote for Hillary

I think the best way is to be low key. Esp if they are well-educated. Copy the Issues off the web-site. save them to your computer and enlarge them first because the print is way too small. Then underline the arguments on the issues you think that person is interested in. Just show them to them in an obvious place. Stay cool, let them know you think she's the best but let them make up their own mind. Esp. good with husbands and men who don't appreciate being told what to do. Plan to go together to a rally. Ladies are good at organizing trips. Take some food or munchies. Make it a fun outing. It will be. This approach worked for me, my husband who rarely changes his mind did! Amazing! Hopeful Mary

    Chelsea Clinton

That was nice of you to complement them.
