Strong Showing for Hillary in Louisville

by Kelly Nooning
5/8/2008 1:12:40 PM

Kelly is a volunteer from Louisville, Kentucky.

PhotoWednesday morning we had a very strong showing with a very enthusiastic group of 16 Hillary supporters gathered to show their support for the Senator during the morning rush hours at the intersection of Bardstown Road and Eastern Parkway here in Louisville.  Our morning visibility was especially significant because we not only had the ability to celebrate our Indiana victory but it kicked-off our increased efforts here in Louisville after sharing our resources with Indiana in support of our neighbor's primary.

Everyone driving by was thrilled to honk and holler in support Hillary after our Indiana victory. All the people taking their morning walks and waiting for the bus were also enthusiastic about Hillary and we recruited a bunch of new volunteers to come down to headquarters to volunteer for the campaign.

Kentuckians are very excited that the focus is now on them and their primary on May 20th.  With less than two weeks to go until our primary, I'm counting down the days until I cast my vote for Hillary.  In the meantime I'm planning on having a good time while working round the clock to do everything I can to ensure Hillary becomes the next president of this great country.

    • Make the only right choice....

I am guided throughout this day to make all the
right choices. I only desire that which is for my highest good.

      Author: Louise Hay

Make the only right choice, vote for Hillary
      for President 08!

      You you all...

    • PR delegates

I think PR delegates are winner take all; is it true? if so why no one mentions it, as Hillary will get all those 50 or so delegates!

by Alex from NY at 5/8/2008 2:23:42 PM

      • Winner take all

I have heard that if someone gets 85% of the votes, then the winner gets all of the delegates.   I have not heard that PR is winner takes all .... if it were that would be helpful.

it would be amazing if we get get WV or KY or PR to the 85% mark!

        Let's search about PR...

by Joyce Perciballi at 5/8/2008 2:53:38 PM

        • You'd have to

have every single last Hillary voter in the state turn out vs. a 'normal' turnout to get close to that mark, but guess what..

We can come close to that.

We are already looking good in WV and KY.

I just wish voters in NC didn't 'cave in' and vote for the other guy because of the fact that they let poll #s and the media influence their decision.

If we had a near-perfect turnout (yes, very close to every single last Hillary supporter) in NC we would have won NC.  Didn't happen, so we have to try again in WV, KY, and OR.

PR is winner take all and Hillary should mention this until the media picks it up.

Indications are that she'll go on until June 3rd, which is good because she is allowing all the states to decide and giving the Superdelegates (yes even some of the decided ones for BO) the chance to evaluate who is more electable and who has a chance to win over the very-important small-town Lunch bucket Democrat.

    • Keep Going Hillary

You're the only one of the candidates who is capable of straightening out the economy.
      Don't quit!  Keep going!
If you don't get the nomination I will disengage myself from the presidential race.  American will be a lost cause if either McCain of Obama tries to run the country.

by smarie at 5/8/2008 2:42:15 PM

    • The UNIFICATION of America

It is so important in our lifetime that we all work to unify this nation.  Talking about the "White" vote and the "Black" vote is divisive.  Period. There is only ONE color of vote that is important ... the "Red, White & Blue" vote.  It's the AMERICAN vote that counts.  Right now, Barack Obama is ahead in the American vote. If Hillary overtakes him ... she should be the nominee!  If Barack maintains his advantage in the "American" vote, then it is incumbent that HRC recognize that he is the person to lead our nation!

However it turns out ... it is exciting to be a part of history.  I respect Hillary and I have a fondness for the passion of her supporters.  Nonetheless ... I'm supporting my candidate as an AMERICAN.

      YES WE CAN!

    • The Bluegrass State

      Kentucky,
We're counting on you to make this a HUGE Win for Madame Hillary Clinton.  She's not a quitter but a fighter, that's what this country needs.  She's the most qualified canidate to get this country back on its feet.

FYI, My FAMILY members are from Salyersville and Pikeville Kentucky, so I'm extremely proud of my BLUEGRASS roots.

God Bless America and Hillary Clinton!!!!

OHIO's counting on Kentucky to bring her to the White House.

      • LOVE KENTUCKY

I was born in Florida, raised in Texas, and am currently retired in Arizona.  But my Mother was a poor coal miner's daughter from Stone, Kentucky (near McAndrews).  I still have family in that area and I hope they are campaigning for Hillary this very moment.  Kentucky is a beautiful, breath-taking State and has honest, hard working, sincere people.  I feel the Great State of Kentucky will vote for Hillary because Kentucky knows she is the only choice for the "working class".  GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS KENTUCKY............ LETS GET OUR FIRST FEMALE, DEMOCRAT PRESIDENT ELECTED ! ! !

Thank you so much for your support.  You are now the lifeblood of the campaign.

    • AMEN!!!!

Hillary is tthe BEST CHOICE!!  I wanted to add that I spoke to some family in WV..my home state..I thought WV was a sure thing however I was told that due to some old fashioned thinking.."women should not be in charge" that may be a problem. I am calling friends and family and really working on that as much as I can there. I just wanted to get the word out asap, I love Hillary!

    • kentucky/oregon

The MSM has failed to mention that 131 pledged delegates are up for grabs over the next two weeks. 28 are available in W. Virginia, 51 in Kentucky and 52 in Oregon. OB isn't even campaigning. He's hob-nobbing in Washington. Let's go for big wins in these three states and make up some ground. Also, Michigan has a proposal on the table -- if approved -- that would give Hillary 69 pledged delegates and OB 59. Let's each log at least 100 calls to W. Virginig, Kentucky and Oregon.

      by molly-bee at 5/8/2008 1:50:29 PM

      • the come back kid

Let's all work hard and make Hillary the Come Back Kid!!!

CNN, MSNBC and other news channels are acting like Hillary's campaign is dead but it is alive and well in West Virginia and I believe if people work hard and tell people that she can win so they must vote then she will be the next president!

The news is acting like "oh, well Obama is winning so there is no use in voting"...well, let's just show them...she can win Kentucky and West Virginia by 80% and become the Comeback Kid just like Bill Clinton did...remember, they had wrote him off too.

    Challenge to video makers

I would love to have a HIllary video to the song "We are Family" and/or "Wind Beneath My Wings".

    WE ARE FAMILY.

Hillary is our choice not because she is a Democrat but because she is the best and only choice for America.

    • Hey Everybody!

If you haven't checked out the video in the HillaryHub story, "My Daughter and I Met Hillary Tonight!", please do so.  It is incredible.

And check out all the bloggers who've visited here the last two days.  I see a diverse crowd, including Republicans and Obama supporters.  What does that say?  I think it's beautiful!

    NO DROPPING OUT

I hope Hillary never drops out. If anyone should, it should be Obama. Hillary has the experience. Being a politician myself, I know Obama has not even been in politics to know whats going on, let alone be President. Hillary turned Indiana and she can take the rest. Make our votes count and go get 'em!!!!!!

    Sheer Arrogance by Our Opponent

Obviously the Clinton campaign challenges this but

Obama plans to claim victory on May 20

    http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/05/08/obama-to-d...

He plans to claim victory after Oregon.

He obviously doesn't care at all about the
    voters in the
remaining contests in Puerto Rico, Montana
and South Dakota, let alone Florida and
    Michigan.

He will never get my vote EVER!

I think that article said he should have a majority of the delegates by then.  If I'm not mistaken, neither candidate will have enough pledged delegates to be nominated, therefore the superdelegates will come into play. If they wanted Hillary out of the race they could end it today with the superdelegates, so if they think she is destryoying the democratic party why don't they end it? Well as always there has to be a reason.  So pretty much Obama can't claim victory yet....on to Ky and WV let's show them what we want....

by cadiane at 5/8/2008 8:02:35 PM

    • Democratic convention

Under no circumstances should Hillary drop out of  the race.  It isn't over until the convention. Don't presume the win of any states to Obama. I feel his true colors will show before November. His
speeches are becoming even more vague than in  the past.  NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER GIVE UP.
Till the last call for delegate votes at  the convention occurs. I won't vote for Obama , but I won't vote for McCain either.
I think John Edwards would be the best Vice-President.

This post violated our terms of service and has been removed.

      • It's similar to the Bush Claim in Iraq.

Five years ago  President Bush stood on a battleship under  a sign that said "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq.  We all know what happened next.  Now,  Obama wants to do the same thing with this election.  The outcome will be the same.  Arrogance has been costly to our country.  Another 4 years of it would be ccatastrophic.

        Hillary Must Win!

        by kavala31 at 5/8/2008 2:25:13 PM

    • So-called Victory

President Bush claimed "Mission Accomplished" and we are still in Iraq.  Words, just words!

    Bill Clinton's request

    Contribution Details
    Date: May 08, 2008 1:45 PM EDT
    Amount: $10.44

If Hillary can donate millions, I think I can push my check book around and find another $10! This is not over yet. The reality is the INDIANA WAS A COME FROM BEHIND WIN. Period. Hillary took Indiana out from under BO. This is a new pattern indicating that the momemtum was ours... Usually, he is the one sneaking up on us going into a primary, this time we turned the tables on him and came from behind!

    • WE need a historic win in WV

      Folks,

Our goal in WV is 80% for HRC and 20% for BO. I want to challenge everyone to make it happens.  If we show the world that Hillary can win by 60%, I know from my heart that she will be the next President.

Again I want to challenge everyone to proactive for this campaign by calling, donating, and canvassing for the rest of the primary states, especially in WV. We need to concentrate in WV first, then the rest of the primary states.

WE NEED A HISTORIC WIN IN WV, and it is really up to us. I know we can do this because Hillary is a fighter.

    CONTRIBUTE NOW; MAKE CALLS NOW

Like HillWillWin08, I also saw the report online that one of Obama's advisers says (off the record, of course) that he intends to declare victory on May 20th (after Kentucky and Oregon), but before he has achieved the 2025 needed to be nominated. WE NEED TO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE DNC THAT OBAMA IS NOT OUR NOMINEE! Please CONTRIBUTE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN NOW (no matter the amount) -- we need to be able to advertise in the remaining states, and roll up some BIG NUMBERS to stop the Obama money juggernaut. I am going to contribute now, even though I cannot afford a lot. PLEASE DO WHATEVER YOU CAN -- CALL YOUR FRIENDS, RELATIVES, ETC. IN WEST VIRGINIA, OREGON, KENTUCKY, SOUTH DAKOTA, MONTANA.

Hillary is the better candidate against McCain! Deal with it!

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Barack Obama attracting 46% of the vote while John McCain earns 44%. At the same time, Hillary Clinton has a five-point lead over McCain, 48% to 43%. This is the ninth consecutive day that Clinton has outperformed Obama in the general election match-ups

A Miracle is on it's way

I've seen and heard headlines expressing that a miracle is needed for Hillary to succeed.  I must admit I have a problem with the way the entire process has unfolded so far.  However, I know that from what we have to choose from, Hillary is the best candidate.  Let me just say that it's information from a Higher source.  And if her victory is still within the plans of the Higher Source, a miracle is on its way.  In fact, it is done.

    • Miracles

I believe in miracles and I also believe things happen in a Higher Powers time not ours.  So with all of us doing our part we will have a miracle and
then the press will really have something worthwhile to talk about!!!!

by Hillvote at 5/8/2008 3:14:29 PM

      • Re: Miracles

Precisely.  It's all about aligning ourselves to the Highest good.  I will tell you that before this campaign even began, I received information from a pretty reliable source that Hillary is not only the candidate, but the next President of the United States of America.  I was a bit skeptical at first, for various reasons that I won't go into here.  But I just weighed the information, meditated and prayed on it.  I realized that if all our hearts and minds are aligned for the BEST possible outcome for our country, without grasping attachment to the outcome, the BEST would then unfold.  In examining the practical aspects of this campaign, as I have said before, it really looks like this information divulged to me shows at the outset that Hillary right now is the best possibility for the country.  I couldn't see that clearly at all a few months ago.  However, the Wisdom from which the information came really knows and sees all.

I choose to IGNORE what is being spouted by the media--outright, and believe that this year, 2008, is a year of miracles (also information from a reliable source to me).  A sign for me that miracles abound is what occurred earlier this year with the NY Giants, and their come from behind win of the Superbowl.  I believe Hillary's scenario is quite similar--and may in a sense be another instance to teach us all to connect and have faith in a Higher Wisdom.  So I am sending her Love and Light.

Since Obama does not want to recognize Michigan and Florida, I suppose if he is elected he will make a new flag with 48 stars instead of 50.  It is a shame that Guam and P Rico votes count and 2 of our 50 states do not.

    Hillary, please Do Not Quit

It is not over yet.  Until Michigan and Florida are resolved and the rest of the primaries are done, there is still hope that you will be the party's nominee. The Super delgates are not rushing to Mr. Obama after North Carolina win because I feel that they are not confident and comfortable to endorse him yet. So please do not listen to these impatient people who are calling for you to quit; we have waited 7 long years for Bush Admin., what is a couple of months to ensure that all options are carefully analyzed and taken.  On the contrary, this is good for the country, young and old, rich and poor, educated and less educated, blacks, whites,Asians, Hispanics, are all engaged and energized. Good Luck and hope that you will be my President for the next 4 or 8 years.

by Tere at 5/8/2008 2:37:16 PM

Only one of two path for me

First is DO NOT BACK DOWN like the song says, and stay to the convention and let the DNC and all delegates do their work, do not make it easy on them as they did not make it easy on you or your supporters.
Second option to me is Hillary/Leberman ticket that will challenge any of the other two unqualified candidates for President by far.
This ticket would be the best of both worlds WITH ALL THE QUALITIES TO LEAD FROM BOTH POSITIONS.

DON'T BACK DOWN AND MAKE IT EASY FOR DNC, YOU OWE IT TO YOUR SUPPORTS BECAUSE EITHER WAY BO LOSES FL AND MI IN THE GE, HE ALREADY DISH THEM OUT OF BEING RECONIZED.

LETS ALL HELP HILLARY WIN !!

It is NOT TOO LATE for us to help Hillary win! I only have limited funds (I'm retired) but I did just manage to donate $20 to Hillary.  If just 1,000,000 people would donate $20, thats  $20,000,000 in donations.  Come on voters, lets get these donations in today and help secure Kentucky.  We can, one at a time, make the difference for Hillary.  But we need to do it NOW, TODAY, not tomorrow.

    Letter to the DNC

I intend to keep positive about Hillary's campaign and am contributing $50 today.  In the meantime, I have just sent the following letter to the DNC:

"If Barack Obama gets the Democratic Party nomination, I, a lifetime Democrat, will vote Republican for the first time in my life in a presidential election.  I will vote for John McCain and I am not alone. This has nothing to do with spite; this has nothing to do with race.  This has to do with the fact that Barack Obama has no business being President of the United States of America because he lacks the domestic experience, he lacks the international experience, he lacks the resources and networks to create a consensus in the U.S. Senate, he lacks an understanding of the concerns of the underprivileged in this country, and I have seen no real evidence of his ability to bridge any racial divides in this country.  His whole campaign has been run on the basis of pure fluff: “Change,” “Hope,”  “New Face in Washington,” “Out with the Old, in with the New.”  The American people have fallen for this nonsense because of a) the media and b) the DNC, for reasons I do not understand, has been undermining Hillary Clinton from the very beginning.

Hillary Clinton is clearly the best candidate because 1) she has a Senate track record of reaching across the aisle to build consensus; 2) she has the domestic experience and knowledge of the policy process to get her health care plan and other domestic policies implemented; 3) she has the support of all of the top U.S. military commanders and the best policy for the U.S. to pursue in Iraq; 4) she is indefatigable when it comes to working for the interests of working class Americans,5) she and Bill Clinton did more than any other politicians I can think of to really advance the interests of African-Americans. I think it is a travesty the way the DNC and the media have treated Hillary Clinton; the results will become clear in November if she does not get the nomination.
Because of this, and the fact that I am a Florida resident and have been disenfranchised in the primary, I am taking my name off of the Democratic Party rolls in Florida and registering Independent, effective immediately."

We Need A Woman In Office....

Hi!! I love Hillary!! To me real change will come in the form of a woman.  The men have had their turn.  It's Our time.
I've watched as our country has been run into the ground for the last seven/eight years now.  Everything is messed up from the rights of women, the environment, to the National debt.
I like Hillary's views.  I like that she actually has a plan.
I wouldn't care if she was another race as long as she's a woman and a Democrat.
Not someone pretending to be a Democrat who is more like the person(cough cough) we have in Office now.
    I love Hillary!!!!!!

      • Absolutely NOT

Hillary VP ? So that BO can take her policy proposals and plans and claim them as his ,which is something he has already done in the primaries.
Never can I imagine this as a possibility.
Glory is for the one who truly earns it !

      • As for your last statement re Obama, I don't know

The rationale would be that with Hillary joining the ticket as V.P, the ticket could be the best of two worlds. With Obama taking all of the black vote and the "overly educated", Hillary could bring in a significant amount of the "middle american vote" and the ticket could take it all. Of course, I would only go for this if it were agreed in advanced and announced that Hillary would be given a portfolio of very important work to accomplished. I could think of many things: Fixing the healthcare mess, education, and something very close to her heart: the plight of children in abusive homes, in the morass of our failed foster care system, which is destroying children's lives. She started out her professional life in this area. She would now have the power to make wholesale changes in the system. Hillary is the best "roll up her sleeves" person in the United States. I truely admire her vast abilities and am convinced she could accomplish tremendous things that have ben impossible for others to fix.

    • VP? Nah...

She would be better off in the Senate. Maybe the Cabinet ?

However, the party needs her to win. Obama may be seeing this.

by Kathy from CT at 5/8/2008 3:11:38 PM

      • NO VP for Hillary

Hillary should be Prez and BO should be VP ( he can learn alot) and after eight years he can run for Prez.
That sounds fine to me !!!

    • Hill for VP

As a new yorker I hope she does not consider this.  She does not owe the party nothing for the way she has been treated.

She can keep her seat in the senate and have her great mind put to everyone use not BO.

BO is an empty suit who will steal her ideas and make her develop his presidency making him look good.

Every call, every donation will help.  She has not stopping at all.  Go to each state page see how many events she is doing.

I would rather her go to the Convention.  MI & FL must be counted and every delegate can re-vote by then.

by SparkForHill at 5/8/2008 3:34:05 PM

    • OTHER

THE OTHER WAY AROUND IS MORE LIKE IT - THEN OBAMA CAN HAVE SOME TIME TO GET USED TO DC AND THEN HE CAN RUN AFTER HER TWO TERMS...
      THAT'S THE ONLY WAY.
SHE HAS TO BE AT THE TOP OF THE TICKET.

by suzibee at 5/8/2008 5:01:10 PM

    • I still wont vote for...

the ticket if Obama is in the Presidential slot.  It would have to be Hillary and even him as #2 doesn't excite me.   It's Hillary or McCain for me.... AND FOR THE OBAMA TROLLERS IN HERE ... I AM TRUE TO MY WORDS!  I did it once before (voted GOP) in 1980 when we had another dud as a Democratic candidate!   How ironic that we've sent that dud Carter all over the World to monitor elections for fraud and he has the audacity to say that FL/MI shouldn't count now.   Maybe Obama and Carter can run together on a ticket and if Carter turns him down what about Obama/McGovern?  LOL    the 3 biggest duds in the party  well 4 if we cound Nancy Pelosi!

    • Re: Superdelegates

The important thing is to make sure that the votes count in a fair way.  Remember that Hillary has said that delegates are free to cast their votes for whomever they feel is the best able to win in the general.  Marching on!

by Arishia at 5/8/2008 3:23:53 PM

Just sent this to my Senator

    Senator Klobuchar,

Though I doubt highly you care I am writing to tell you that I donated heavily to your campaign at various fundraisers with my husband during your run for senate.  We worked on your campaign.  Never again.  I am embarassed and saddened that you would choose to endorse Barak Obama.  Any campaign run so obviously on an utter lack of experience is not only wrong for Minnesota but antithetical to everything you once stated you beleived in.  I am ashamed that a politician I so strongly fought for would sink so low as to endorse someone based on pure popularity rather than substance.  You are too smart to say that you feel he has the necessary experience.  I always thought you would fight for MN first...apparently not.  You would rather cast votes and support to further your own career...look at the latest polls in MN...the vast majority of Minnesotans would rather see Senator Clinton as our President...now that the hype has worn down.  You were elected because you refused to be involved in hype and pretense...shame on you.  I hope you are proud to look every Minnesotan in the eye as you assist in handing the presidency to Senator McCain.  I, for one, will not forget your decision.  I doubt many will...I can assure you the hundreds and hundreds of women I know that have been circulating a certain email won't...we elected you; our money and our voices put you there...we won't make that mistake again.

    by hburns76 at 5/8/2008 3:09:08 PM

    • great!

We stand strong for Hillary - and she stands for us!  I too will remember who endorsed BO - as a full down ticket Democrat my future votes will reflect that.

by Adriane at 5/8/2008 3:23:15 PM

    • Fantastic and strongly expressed

VOW,to this well written letter and your courage to stand up for what is right.
Day by day politicians are revealed that are only concerned about political gain and furtherment, rather that to stand by the person with qualifications, brilliant plans and proposals and a huge key democratic voting block.
This is our Hillary and to all the superdelegates out there.
Vote for electibility and qualifications and don't be blown into this wind of false reasoning.!

      by Elle44 at 5/8/2008 3:33:11 PM

    • Awesome!

Great letter, hburns! Well constructed and very thoughtful.

This website has a list of all the names of the uncommitted superdelegates:

      http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/01/superdeleg...

I have personally written to every single one in my home state, Florida, and several others.

Please take the time to write to as many as you can and urge them to endorse Hillary! I suggest that we write to all of those from states where she has won. As representatitves of the people, they SHOULD honor their constituencies by endorsing the candidate THEY nominated! Let's make this happen, Hillstars!

by kortni at 5/8/2008 4:51:48 PM

Obama's campaign has shown arrogance time and time again.  The list is long one.  Another blogger said he had "rudderless ethics".  We could almost start  an Obama arrogant list.

Working voters support Hillary because she DOES understand their plight and IS committed to getting America back on track.  She has our trust because she does connect with her voters.

    85% is winner-take-all

    Dear All,
According to the Democratic Rules for Primaries, a candidate needs at least 15% of the vote in order to receive delegates. Said in other words, if a candidates wins by 85% or more of the vote, the primary becomes winner takes all.

Can we give Hillary 85% in WV, KY and PR?
Can we give Hillary a nice Victory Margin in Oregon?

Based on the polls I can tell you is possible, and that's why Obama wants her to quit and you know what? She won't because she knows the rules.

    Hillary 2008!
