Oregon for Hillary In Action!

by Scott Zumwalt
5/8/2008 3:02:00 PM

In addition to opening up new offices statewide, Oregon for Hillary has been growing at an exponential pace.  We’re seeing more volunteers than ever come in through our doors and the excitement level has gone through the roof.  With just 12 days until ballots are due, Oregonians clearly want their say in this election about who is the best candidate who can defeat John McCain this fall.

Take a look at some of the photos below.  Have an Oregon for Hillary photo to share with us? Send it to orblog@hillaryclinton.com.

        • The Democratic Party

I am very worried and concerned. We need to be united in ALL WAYS so we can take back the White House.  Please continue running, but stop being negative. Focus on the issues that are important. There is a wonderful opportunity here you. If you do not get the nomination this time, there is 2012.

        • Hillary for Us

I am so impressed with Hillary's tenacity! She
proves her strength and determination to fight. That is what we need in our next President.  She will have to fight Washington to make the changes we need and she knows how to get there.  No other candidate shows that.  One has had a walk in the park with no ideas what to do and the other wants to do business as usual.

Hillary is our only hope for the future!

by feline at 5/9/2008 9:03:24 AM

      • I hope not, this election is TOO important

To say you would only vote for Hillary and not Obama implies you'd be happy with McCain and more years of Repbulican policies. Please don't sentence us to that. The country can't afford increasing debt, failed foreign policy.

    • Democratic Contest

Senator Clinton would make the best president to date if elected. She is our best chance for significantly improving the United States' International and Domestic Affairs: the economy, health care, education, environment, energy, civil rights etc. I would like to thank Senator Clinton for all she has done her entire life to help people. Senator Clinton has not only always been able to figure out the problems in society but to consistently solve the problems as well.  Please don't quit the race; your country truly needs you. All the demographics need you. I have 5 children, 3 of whom are 18 - 22. My husband, children, and extended family support you! Please, please, please, keep on competing! You will win! Florida and Michigan should be counted. In my eyes and that of a lot of people you are ahead! All our best!

    • Florida Demands Representation

I am a native New Yorker and am more than pleased to sign and send in this petition.  I have downloaded it into my pdf file and am e-mailing a copy to everyone I know.  New York State supports you Florida.  We support Hillary.  Pay no attention to the naysayers.  We are with you Hillary all the way to the White House.

    • Petition signed & Hillary has the numbers - not BO

Pass this info. on to as many Hillary supporters & the super delegates.
      1. If the Democrats really want to win in November - Hillary is the one. Only she beats McCain in Florida and Michigan. The fact that BO would not have a re-vote or count those that already voted shows how weak he really is.
      2. The only number that counts is 270 - the number of Electoral College Votes it takes to become President. Hillary has McCain beat 291 to 236. BO against McCain is 264 to 263 with 11 states tied.
      3. Out of the 28 states that BO has won, at least 16 go for McCain.
      4. Hillary has won all the swing states that will be needed to win in November.
      5. Hillary beats McCain in Ohio - NOT BO
      6. Hillary beats McCain in Pennsylvania - NOT BO
      7. Hillary beats McCain in Florida - NOT BO
      8. When all the votes are counted, it will be Hillary with the popular vote.
      9. Hillary has won in the big states even though BO has outspent her 2 and sometime 3 to 1.
      10. BO does not have the support of Hispanics, women, rural and small town America and voters over 65. Hillary has them all and we all vote.

There are 10 good reason why she will be our next President. Keep the faith. If she can keep her eye on the ball, so can we. Let's do it!

    Matching contribution...

Just thought I would match plus a little extra a couple of the folks in the village; alabamian18, klt, undecided but leaning.  Normita I did some candles too.  You know our opponent speaks of hope and change, but without the plans to make that happen it leads to disappointment and failure. So, let's keeps her moving - here's to your success Hillary!

    Thanks Hill Team!

by HRC Bringing Compassion Back at 5/8/2008 3:16:09 PM

Just sent this to my senator...join me...email them all...without our support they are nothing

    Senator Klobuchar,

Though I doubt highly you care I am writing to tell you that I donated heavily to your campaign at various fundraisers with my husband during your run for senate.  We worked on your campaign.  Never again.  I am embarrassed and saddened that you would choose to endorse Barak Obama.  Any campaign run so obviously on an utter lack of experience is not only wrong for Minnesota but antithetical to everything you once stated you believed in.  I am ashamed that a politician I so strongly fought for would sink so low as to endorse someone based on pure popularity rather than substance.  You are too smart to say that you feel he has the necessary experience.  I always thought you would fight for MN first...apparently not.  You would rather cast votes and support to further your own career...look at the latest polls in MN...the vast majority of Minnesotans would rather see Senator Clinton as our President...now that the hype has worn down.  You were elected because you refused to be involved in hype and pretense...shame on you.  I hope you are proud to look every Minnesotan in the eye as you assist in handing the presidency to Senator McCain.  I, for one, will not forget your decision.  I doubt many will...I can assure you the hundreds and hundreds of women I know that have been circulating a certain email won't...we elected you; our money and our voices put you there...we won't make that mistake again.  We aren't the "blue-collar" democrats...but we are proud to be among them.  Proud to be a part of a party that once not only SAID they would fight for them b ut took the steps necessary to do so.  We are affluent, educated and influential...and we will NOT FORGET that you so eagerly turned your back on so many.

No, Senator, I won't "unite" and cast my vote for Barak.  For many, many of us conscience comes before party.  You used to say it did for you, too.  No, Senator, June 3rd won't give you enough time to "put it all back together".  You are turning your back on the people you swore to fight for.  We turn ours to you.

    • Message for hburns76

That is interesting that you e-mailed Amy Klobuchar today.  I did the same thing yesterday simply to encourage her to encourage all the super delegates to not rush to judgement until after every single vote has been counted, including Florida and Michigan. Quite simply there is nothing Presidential about stifling votes, as well as nothing democratic.

I live in the Brainerd Lakes area so my congressman is James Oberstar. I think I will contact him as well.

I am a blue collar worker in Tennessee I have worked hard to get my childern as educated as possible to prepare them for collage so they will have more options than I did I am proud of the job I have because I can pay my bills and have plenty of food on the table and live in a OK neighborhood.
Of course I do it with a lot of overtime and not many vacations. I just want to say how much I appreciate your e mail. It shows how it does take all of us to come together not just one any group.

    • Endorsements

I have been busy all morning writing to all the Governors and Senators who have not declared.  I think I sent out 175 emails.  Hillary also has asked Senator Obama to join her in seating delegates from Florida and Michigan and counting the votes.  HMMMMMMMM...I wonder what he will do??  All of my letters mentioned that he was disenfranchising voters now and expecting them to join in the vote later.  It won't happen.  Nice work everyone!!

    • SEND MESSAGE TO THE DNC

I think it would be a good idea to send this well written and thoughtful message, with the appropriate changes, to HOWARD DEAN and the DNC. I have sent numerous messages to them containing ideas expressed here that I think might be capable of  making the DNC more thoughful about the neophyte they are promoting.

by lilibet at 5/8/2008 5:45:46 PM

      • Howard Dean Link?

Somebody provided a link earlier in another blog here to contact Howard Dean. i contacted him earlier today.

    WAR

I don’t understand why the Democrats can’t let this process play out until
all voters’ voices have been heard.

If the powers that be think they will heal this party with their negative
attitude, they are wrong. I have already denied any funding to the
    Democratic Party.

And if they push Sen. Clinton out of this race I will lead
a charge for all of the Clinton supporters to become INDEPENDENTS and get
her put on the ballot in all 50 states.

Not only will the Dems push her out - they will lose 49% of their party.

So, I challenge them to, GO AHEAD, MAKE MY DAY AND DESTROY THIS PARTY!

    Barbara of NC

by bplatt at 5/8/2008 3:28:09 PM

    • I wrote them earlier today with exact same sentiment!

I will enthusiastically join your charge to support Clinton as Independent, if they "push" her out of this race.

      How DARE THEY!!

      They are afraid.......

      wimps!

by maddie at 5/8/2008 5:08:02 PM

      • Me too!

I think that if we even start registering as Independents, this will tell the DNC that we mean business!

    • YOU GO GIRL!!!

I'm with you on that!  Funny how they claim to be against the war, yet have created one within their own party.  How impressive!  Let me say that as a veteran that has served in two branches of the armed forces, I have no problem putting on a pair of boots.  I'm not thrilled about the wars that kill, but would certainly enjoy standing up for democracy within our borders.  I keep hearing the old song by Nancy Sinatra in my head..."These Boots Are Made For Walking..." Well sister, hopefully we won't have to put our boots on, but count me in if they don't come to their senses.

I STAND FOR YOU HILLARY...ALL THE WAY!

    • Protective of Hillary!

I think we all believe the Media and pundits have done a number on our gal!  Basically, they have disenfranchised the Clinton voters.  But they are overlooking a small detail, and the DNC should also take note, that the psychology of this primary is oh, so so different from years gone by.  Clinton supporters, many are women, are passionate and exceedingly stubborn --- and we have memories like elephants!!!  Yes, we are protective of our candidate, Hillary Clinton, and are tired of seeing her beat up by MSNBC and others.  So don't expect very many of us to vote for BO come November cause we'll be Republicans by then!

Remember, the SD's are merely weighing-in at present.  They don't cast votes until the convention in Denver.  There is no absentee, mail-in, curbside, etc. voting!  So we can still write and make our case for those who are committed and uncommitted.

      • Not falling in line!

How completely arrogant of the pundits and "elders" of the democratic party to think we are just going to "fall in line" behind BO.

We don't forget!  I will not fall in line behind someone who has no business leading me in the first place!

I will support Hillary...and HILLARY only for Pres this November!

Please sign these two petitions!  One is for the super delegates to support our Hillary.  The other is to show you won't be "falling in line" either!

The person that started the petition has said that they will remove the comments of those that just sign it to push their pro-BO agenda.  And even after the comments are removed, their signature will still be there.  So, let them sign!  They just help our cause out that much more!

No healing can happen without resolution of MI and FL!  We will never acknowledge a democratic candidate who only represents 48 states!

WE DO NOT FORGET AND JUST "COME AROUND".  BO, LISTEN TO US NOW, and there may be hope!  Show us some class! Look the other way, and you are not going anywhere in November!

Go Oregon - Keep Working for Hillary!!!

Good luck in your efforts.  I hope you bring home a huge victory for Hillary Clinton!

She is still standing and has really hit her stride.  Don't let an expected loss in NC and a close win in IN deter you in your efforts.  She wasn't supposed to win in NC or IN. And if she did win IN, it was  expected to be close - so what has changed?  Don't let the media count her out.  They've done it before and she always comes back strong!   Let's stay strong for her.

I volunteered for her in Indiana.  I wish my state had given her a larger margin of victory, but due to our demographics and the fact that 1/3 of the state is within the Chicago media market, we're just thrilled to count our state on her side!

I'll be logging in to help make calls in OR, WV, KY, and other states - and contributing online.

    Superdelegates

Obama just got anoter superdelegate!  He just keeps getting them!

What's wrong with these idiots???  I thought they wanted to win this fall.  I have lost all faith in the democratic party.

by Iowa Hillsters at 5/8/2008 3:49:19 PM

    • They just don't get how they are disenfranchising a HUGE community---

The Supers are WRONG if they think we are all going to fall in
line behind the Obama Camp if they steal this election from
Hillary--because without a proper re vote in MI and FL OR have
her wins be reflected in the count--then the nomination was
      essentially stolen from Hillary.
Talk about a whole big community of Hill Voters and Supporters
Disenfranched- she has a strong diverse coalition behind her
that will not stand by and see this election stolen from her.
      Go Hillary Go!
We are behind you and may justice prevail again in the Democratic
Party. This is not supposed to be a coronation!
Without FL and MI--the nomination is invalid!

        • HILLARY ALL THE WAY

Hillary must fight on. The Democratic leadership has been trying to push her out of the race for a long time. It was obvious that they favored Obama over HRC, who has been a loyal Democratic, who campaigned and raised funds for other Democratic candidates in 2004.

If Hillary did not get the nomination, I would support a draft Hillary as an Independent.

I am not voting for Obama. If by some chance it cannot be Hillary, then I must turn to McCain, who is head and shoulders above Obama. Hillary was and is the cream of the crop.

    • Superdelegates - not so super!

It's called political aspiration - maybe there will be a position for them in the Obama administration! And it's particularly heinous when the state they represent supported Hillary in the primary.  I hope their constituents remember.

by Nevada for Hillary at 5/8/2008 4:03:11 PM

      • Superdelegates that Occupy the House of Representatives

I think we should start mailing letters to every House member who's district or state went for Hillary in the primary and demand they support her.  Imagine each of us mailing 5 letters or postcards a day for the next 10 days.  Each House member getting trays and trays of mail demanding they support Hillary.  It's easy for them to receive a few thousand emails and just ignore or delete them.  However when few thousand pieces of mail arrive everyday in their office it's not so easy to ignore.

by LindaW at 5/8/2008 11:30:37 PM

Obama to annouce he has won on May 20th.

BO annouced this morning that he will be declaring he is the winner on May 20th. even though all states hasn't voted.  This was after his "big" meeting in Washington and appearance on the House floor.  BO stated he would have all the delegates and super-delegates needed by May 20th.
Apparently, a lot of those that Bill and Hillary helped get into office in the past, has now stabbed her in the back to further their own career.  When they run for office again in their districts, I hope all the "blue collar people" remember that they turned their backs on them and votes them out of office.  BO has made a decision that white, hard working people are not necessary to his election this fall.  I will be staying home for the first time in my life!!  BO is handing the nomination to John McCain for his own personal ego.  He DOES NOT care about all of America.

    May 20th

Even the mention by an Obama spokesperson of the May 20th statement is an unbelievable slap in the face to all Democrats by the Obama campaign. The slap includes even the delegates, superdelegates and those in Congress. The message is clear "You do not count."  Those Democrats and even the media that put up with that nonsense are agreeing with that message.
Let's pray they all finally wake up.

Letter to Hon. Senator Feinstein, my senator

    Dear Senator Feinstein:

Thank you for your service to your constituents in our great State of California and for the country.  I am a registered Democrat and have always voted with the belief that this party is for the people, and the party who hears and listens to the voices of the people.  However, all through the primary election process, the DNC continues to disregard the voices of the voters in Florida and Michigan, for reasons we may never know other than the DNC leaders in those states "violated the rules".  In fairness to the voters, don't you think that internal rules can be bended for the good of all and not let their personal preferences take over.

It seems that the DNC is waltzing with the pundits to let the primaries end before all 50 states are heard.  I never expected the day will come in this country when a candidate is being pushed out before it's time.  How hypocritical that we have "concerned citizens" who go to foreign countries to monitor elections for integrity and fairness when we can't even take care of our own?

I followed with passion and wisdom the candidates' positions and what they will bring to the party and to the country.  I believe that Hillary Clinton has the intelligence, compassion, courage, experience and greater understanding of the issues everyday Americans face everyday.  Words are spreading today that you may be re-thinking your support of Hillary.  Please, I implore you not to get swayed by rhetorics, rather what is best for the country.

God bless you and your constituents!  God bless America!

    LETTER FROM HILLARY!

    May 8, 2008

    Senator Barack Obama

    Obama for America

    P.O. Box 8102

    Chicago, IL 60680

    Dear Senator Obama,

This has been an historic and exciting campaign. Millions of new voters have been brought into the process and their enthusiasm for the Democratic Party and the principles for which you and I have fought and continue to fight is unprecedented.

One of the foremost principles of our party is that citizens be allowed to vote and that those votes be counted. That principle is not currently being applied to the nearly 2.5 million people who voted in primaries in Florida and Michigan. Whoever emerges as the Democratic nominee will be hamstrung in the general election if a fair and quick resolution is not reached that ensures that the voices of these voters are heard. Our commitment now to this goal could be the difference between winning and losing in November.

I have consistently said that the votes cast in Florida and Michigan in January should be counted. We cannot ignore the fact that the people in those states took the time to be a part of this process and to make their preferences known. When efforts were untaken by leaders in those states to hold revotes to ensure that they had a voice in selecting our nominee, I supported those efforts. In Michigan, I supported a legislative effort to hold a revote that the Democratic National Committee said was in complete compliance with the party's rules. You did not support those efforts and your supporters in Michigan publically opposed them. In Florida a number of revote options were proposed. I am not aware of any that you supported. In 2000, the Republicans won an election by successfully opposing a fair counting of votes in Florida. As Democrats, we must reject any proposals that would do the same.

Your commitment to the voters of these states must be clearly stated and your support for a fair and quick resolution must be clearly demonstrated.

I am asking you to join me in working with representatives from Florida and Michigan and the Democratic National Committee to arrive at a solution that honors the votes of the millions of people who went to the polls in Florida and Michigan. It is not enough to simply seat their representatives at the convention in Denver. The people of these great states, like the people who have voted and are to vote in other states, must have a voice in selecting our party's nominee.

    Sincerely,

    Hillary Rodham Clinton

by kortni at 5/8/2008 4:14:04 PM

    • My input-

YOU GO HILLARY!!! I hope, hope, hope, they can resolve this! I, for one, am SICK of being disenfranchised.

It was the FLORIDA STATE LEGISLATURE, a REPUBLICAN MAJORITY, who made the decision to move the Florida primary up to January. No one asked US what WE wanted. Call me paranoid, but this would not be the first time that the DNC has allowed the Republicans to manipulate Florida’s Democratic process. Furthermore, they have decided that 2 million democrats must incur a punishment for a decision republicans made. They have decided that our votes don't matter. It appears that Senator Obama agrees with them. Look, I know politicians are self-interested. I can only assume that if the shoe were on the other foot, if he had won Florida, he would be doing everything in his power to validate his win. So he doesn't want Florida to count because it hurts him, fine, but he has disenfranchised his own supporters.

So why would the Republicans sabotage the Democratic Primary here?

Well, the most obvious reason is to secure their victory in November. The DNC has become widely unpopular here in the Sunshine State. Many democrats are disillusioned with the party and with Senator Obama. The complete lack of regard for our rights, our votes, has shattered our faith in the party.

The DNC HAS to seat Florida's delegates. They HAVE to count our votes. They can not afford not to, simple as that. If Hillary Clinton does not get the nomination, a lot of Dems here, at least people I have talked to, will vote for McCain or not at all.

by kortni at 5/8/2008 4:19:21 PM

      • right on kortni

My husband and I from Florida sentiments exactly ...kortni..well stated...and perfectly correct....We are so Proud of Hillary for not giving up..not giving in..not quitting...the Super Delegates had better look into this very closely...otherwise...we will lose the best possible Candidate for the Presidency of the United States...the precise and correct "judgement" call is for these Super Delegates to go Hillary's way...and the DNC too...Enough is Enough....

        • YOUR 110% CORRECT KORTNI... BUT

DOES THE MEDIA TALK ABOUT, THE FACT THAT IT WAS A "REPUBLICAN" GOVENOR CRIST (WHO WANTS TO BE THE V.P. BY THE WAY WITH MCCAIN !) AND THE REPUBLICAN FLORIDA LEGESLATOR WHO MADE THIS DECISION. THE WHOLE THING IS TOTALLY OBSERVED.AND WHO'S PAYING FOR THIS MISTAKE, HILLARY AND ABOUT 1.8 MILLION FLORIDA DEMOCRATES.IF THIS DOES NOT GET YOU ANGRY, WHAT THE HECK DOES? WE NEED TO HAVE SOME PROTESTS AROUND THIS NATION AND STAND UP FOR HILLARY AND DEMOCRACY.RIGHT NOW GO TO ..floridademandsrepresentation . GIVE THEM A CALL AND SET UP A DEMONSTRATION IN YOUR OWN AREA, THEY HAVE SEVERAL PLANNED IN FLORIDA. WHY NOT ONE IN YOUR AREA.YESTERDAY IN PROTEST I RESIGNED AS A DEMOCRAT OF 41 + YEARS..I NOW AM A INDEPENDENT. I ALSO SENT THE DNC A E-MAIL LETTING THEM KNOW WHY. STAND UP ! STAND UP ! STAND UP ! STAND UP ! STAND UP ! THIS IS OUR COUNTRY ..THIS IS OUR DEMOCRATIC PARTY ! ONE MAY 31TH. THE DNC " RULES AND BY-LAWS COMMITTEE MEETS. LET'S LET THEM KNOW THAT WE WILL NOT TAKE ANYTHING LESS THAN "ALL" FLORIDA DELEGATES AND "ALL" SUPER-DELEGATES MUST BE SEATED AS OF THE RESULTS OF THE LEGAL JANUARY 2008 PRIMARY ELECTION.

Yesterday they posted that Youngest SD who endorsed him writing to other SDs.

    Today, they posted:
"Students for Barack Obama Call on Superdelegates Who Represent the Youth Vote to Commit to Supporting Barack Obama"

BO camp is proactive on SDs. HRC camp should not fall behind on this.  His camp is very aggressive, include calls to voters...

SD is much more effective, we have to send that link to petition link to all SDs a few times a day before they ear filled with one side voice.

    go to party convention !!!

Senator Clinton souldn't drop out !!!   Because :

    1.  Florida and Michigan issues not resolved yet
    2.  this year Superdelegates' official votes in Party Convention will decide who'll be Nominee. before the convention SD can today endorse someone publicly, tomorrow change to endorse the other publicly.  we already seen that.
    3.  it's possible that Obama's "negatives" continue to come out that influence SD's official votes.

Only in Convention there'll be a Nominee !
Hillary, for America, for American, for world, please don't drop out !  Don't be fooled by media, by Deen,Pelosi,McGovern, etc.
