Jam-Packed Rally in Charleston

by Deirdre Murphy
5/9/2008 12:06:36 PM

The people of Charleston, West Virginia showed their strong support for Hillary yesterday at a jam-packed morning rally in the State Capitol Rotunda. West Virginians hung over the balcony to listen in as Hillary talked about faith, family and how she will work hard for them day in and day out as president. Hillary has what it takes to bring affordable health care to all Americans, rebuild our middle class, create good-paying jobs, and invest in our children’s future.

Take a look at some photos from the event:

  • Important info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE POST THIS- Hillary will win -KEEP THE FAITH PEOPLE

WEST VIRGINIA--645,000 Democrats Kentucky 1,685,000 Democrats  Puerto Rico 1,500,000 Democrats IF 50% of these people vote as in the other states-THAT'S 2,000,000 VOTES-----IF HILLARY GETS 65% of the votes-SHE WILL PICK UP OVER 600,000 in the popular vote total. IF 70%-OVER 800,000. These are do-able numbers. Keep the faith. The important thing to do is DONATE, DONATE, DONATE and CALL,CALL,CALL. If Hillary does this, which she will and enough people call Oregon and BO gets upset there after he,s already said he,ll win there and his campaign will declare victory on May 20th. It,ll change this race overnight and the rightful person will declare victory. OUR HILLARY> ROGER IN MILWAUKEE

What does this mean in the greater scheme of things? Oh, a few votes here and there....""

      • Just contacted CNN NEWS TIPS at the address below

Spoke to someone at CNN and they suggested it would carry more weight with investigation if tips were coming from Portland.  Also, the voter registration office in Portland should be contacted as well.

      • 100% for Hillary

Why can't we get the Clinton campaign to start the slogan for West Virginia, Kentucky, and Puerto Rico 100% for Hillary. The higher number  of votes we can get in three states may be the deal breaker!!!!!!!! Maybe how can we get the Clinton campaign wherever they go to speak have people start chanting 100% for Hillary. We may not get 100%, but I bet we can get closer to 100%. These states are basically Clinton people. Let's get 100 per cent of them out for Hi la ry!

      • Obama Beware

I called the elections office here in Oregon, and they said that it is not aginst the law or voting laws to take ballots for people. They said that, they would hope that you know the person you are giving the ballots to.

I'm sorry, but this is the kind of alarmist claim I'd expect to receive from my paranoid Republican friends.  Don't repeat gossip if you're not going to name your source.

By the way, what exactly are "Obama clothes"?

Our goal is to reach 1 million dollars in a minute. This on-line event is to help ensure that Hillary gets over the finish line and has the resources to win the Democratic nomination. This will be a statement to the biased press, pundits, and even the superdelegates that Hill is the real deal and without her, we will not win the General election in November. Her success will once and for all silence all those that doubt or scheme against her. There is a similar grassroots event that has been launched by Hillary’s Facebook Army of supporters. So let's join our fellow supporters, brothers and sisters across this great nation in making this a tremendous event and drive for Hillary. Show her with your donations that we have her back. Good News Hillfamily!

It's does not change the outcome but we now it's 1% less.... I think they should do a re-count of ALL counties.  PLEASE READ ARTICLE

        • NC Votes

There are other problems with NC votes. I visited the NC election site and the numbers reported do not add up. Examples: Orange County - total number of votes 21469. HC got 6237 votes, MG 233, BO 7109, uncomitted 427 = 14006. What happend to 7463 votes? A third of the votes are not counted!? In Graham  a half?! In some counties the difference is more resonable like Bertie (5515 counted out of 5782). I think people of NC should contact their officials and ask for explanation.

          • NC Votes

Miley - Where did you here about the other counties? Are the counties you mention being investigated?? Link??

If there is a recount, I am sure BO's win is not that big! I knew it!

            by Fem4Hillary at 5/9/2008 8:57:22 PM

        • I wonder

If this will make any of the news shows tonight?  This oculd make a difference and it will help with the total popular vote count.  So much happening today on the news and around the blog world.  Let's do our part and make some calls and get the voters out.  Chris Mathews predicted Hillary will win Oregon!!

by wackiekat at 5/9/2008 7:53:56 PM

    • Hillar:We Are With You ALL THE WAY!

Today, some superdelegates made their votes known, and they were for the opponent, save for one.  Here's what I think about this whole process of superdelegates making their choices known:

It's good for Hillary, it's good for the campaign, it's good for all of us who believe in Hillary. While it is great to have more superdelegates endorsing Hillary, which they should have done en masse after Pennsylvania, it is just as important to know who is really on our side. I am not disheartened by traitors, I am energized by them.  So, I believe, is Hillary.

Hillary, you know who you can count on and who will turn their backs on you when the going gets rough. I will never give up on you. And neither will the people on this site.

I know Sen. Obama doesn't feel the same way but every vote does count.

That's why it's more important than ever to get out and vote for Hillary. WV votes could be the most important votes in this whole process.

    • Sign the petition after the phones!

You go Marylin! I worked on the phones for Hillary when I was in Indiana.  It can make a difference.

But signing the petition helps too, since you can't call people all hours of the day, signing the petition is a good idea during down phone time.

So please, everything, I mean everything helps in addition to the phone calls.  We need to reach the superdelgates who might determine Hillary's destiny in this race.  We need to use all the resources we have.

I think we should stay confident and not freak out on Hillary.

I made calls to West Virginia and Oregon yesterday and Hillary has a great amount of support!! Please make calls, the race isn't over, the media and Obama supporters are trying to push her out! Don't let that happen. There is a Vote no Obama petition out there, I saw it on Taylor Marsh.com, Please everybody sign it. I will never vote for Obama. What does everybody think about Hillary running as an Independent?

by pokey at 5/9/2008 12:45:31 PM

      • running as an Independent

I'm not sure she would leave the Democratic Party after all the hard work and dedication she and President Clinton have invested in it, but if she would consider it I would support her 100%.  Plus it would solve my personal dilemma of having to vote Republican for the first time in my life if Obama becomes the nominee.  Just one more reason for me to not like that man.

by Uncounted in Michigan at 5/9/2008 1:58:25 PM

        • Dilemma

I will not vote for McCain. I am campaigning for a "write in" pedition to get Hillary Clinton in the White House (besides donating and blogging to make her our DEM nominee).

I have been a Independent for years anticipating such a "dilemma", awaiting the time when my Independent vote could be used as leverage against the two-party system.

I don't think it means that Hillary has to be an Independant for us to write in her name on the GE ballot. Can any one confirm this for us?

by Gay Gal at 5/9/2008 3:13:40 PM

Wow, I'm really mad that I missed your comment. You might be glad that you will miss mine:

I was at dinner, making my plans to travel to Oregon, getting prices for T-shirts and signage that I will pay out of my own pocket to distribute to the LGBT community that is working their butts off in Oregon. Who are you?

Not fully reading the posts before replying to them does not give me much faith that you are the "supporter". If you really cared what Hillary supporters are doing and saying to help her win this nomination, then you would read the posts fully, i.e. listen to what others are saying, before replying.

              Sorry Karing, I

Many of Hillary's supporters were not Democrats.  Many crossed party lines because we like and supported her -- NOT OBAMA!  it's not about party lines -- it's about the candidates and their integrity and credibility of which he has proven to have none!

I will vote for John McCain!

          • I'm with ya...

Gay Gal! I will be changing my voter registraton to independant at the end of this voting season. The Democratic Party has completely left me. I Do not even know these people any more.

But right now, my mission and the entire Hillary Village's mission needs to be:

GET OUT THE VOTE! Hillary cannot just win in W VA (or any of the other up coming states) - she MUST win BIG! We must convert the high poll spreads (right now) to actual votes. People in the up coming states are being bombarded by media outlets stating that BO is already the nominee. We know this is not true! He does not have the number of delegates needed just like Hillary does not. This is still a race!  And we aim to win it!

            • left Dem party already

I have been a loyal Democrat for 32 years but no more. I do not know how any true Democrat could support any individual that day in and day out tells the American people that he does and will not take money from lobbyist, while it is a proven FACT that he has taken well over $200,000 from them. This is a moral issue with me. I will never support or vote for him. I personally do not care if he has taken the money or not, it is the fact that his whole platform that he is running on is a total lie to the American people. What lies will he tells if he is in the White house?

Everyone needs to write Hillary in come November, if she is not the nominee. Go Hillary!

          • A write in is a no vote at all

If you write a name in  it will not be counted as a vote and if you vote for the independant that is a vote for Ralph Nader.

      • Doubt it

I really, really doubt Hillary would ever run as an independent.  She has too much invested in the  Democratic Party and that would make too many enemys for any other future role.  However, that does not mean that we can't write her name in, which is what I'm intending to do.

by KBrown at 5/9/2008 2:55:55 PM

        • Write her in if...

We cannot pull this out for her. But until then, we have got to fight, and we have got to keep fighting to win this thing! It's still a race. She can, if she wins BIG in at least four of the remaining states and PR, she still could pull out the popular vote lead here folks!  She needs us to give her some BIG MO!

So GET OUT THE VOTE! It is imperative that we get as many people to the polls as possible. These votes are so important! We've got to match the poll numbers we've been seeing and even do better to keep her in this thing. SHE HAS TO WIN BIG!

          GET OUT THE VOTE!!!

by Undecided But Leaning at 5/9/2008 6:05:44 PM

      • Do Not write In Hillary on the Ballot if her name is not on the ballot- the vote goes to BO

Information to you all. We have researched this. If you write in Hillary's name on the ballot and she is not officially on the ballot, the vote will be directed at polling stations to her party. That means you WILL HAVE VOTED FOR OBAMA. There are only a few exceptions to this rule due to individual State regulations. I encourage you all to find out about this for your own states. By and large a write-in of a person's name (in this case Hillary ) when they are not officially registered on the ballot would mean a vote for the official nominee of the party (in this case Obama). I cannot stress this enough......

    I believe in miracles.

Today is my birthday, all I want is for the truth to come out about BO.  He is not getting my vote, but let all the people who has been hoodwinked see the light.

    Hillary or McCain

How can we get our message across that if Hillary is not the nominee, we will vote for McCain?????

The superdelegates need to know this.  I wrote to my Senator, Ted Kennedy, and told him that I will vote Republican for the first time rather than vote for Obama (nor will I ever for Kennedy again because I got the brush off).  I hear this from people time and time again from all types of people.

by annpilot at 5/9/2008 12:41:42 PM

    • Hillary or McCain

This Hillary or McCain talk is the most disturbing thing I read here.  It just doesn't make any sense to totally ignore policies.  Hillary has done wonderful things for the party.  I love that there is election news on people's minds every day.  This never happens in May.  This is all good, but we need to listen to Hillary herself and remember that with McCain's policies we all suffer.

by SouthBaySteve at 5/9/2008 3:08:16 PM

      • I guess.........

I guess you don't realize how bad we might suffer if BO gets in there.  It probably won't be pretty my friend.

by Iowa Hillsters at 5/9/2008 3:44:09 PM

        • How?

Exactly what is worse than no change in our foreign and economic policies?  It is unfortunate that neither Hillary or Obama has been able to break into the other's base, as that would be the true measure of a real winner.  We still are close to a tie, but we need to take all this energy and excitement and not waste it, whatever happens.

by SouthBaySteve at 5/9/2008 5:20:49 PM

          • NO TO BO

can we please stop bo supporters who are trying to 'turn on the charm' to get our votes?  i don't recognize any of these names from before.

i am so furious my blood is boiling.  since when is the nominee of any political party decided by the media?  WHAT COUNTRY DO WE LIVE IN?

let me say this so all of you can go back to your headquarters and report this...WE WILL NEVER VOTE FOR BO.

            by Edith50 at 5/9/2008 10:39:09 PM

      • True, her message remains!

I agree with you southbaysteve!  I do not want to have to vote for Obama, but I am sure not voting for McCain, and getting another 4 or more years of evil.  If we are Hillary supporters, we need to support her message and every thing she stands for in this race.  How could you not vote Democrat after all she has been through to fight for the American people, and her supporters?  I know everyone is getting stressed about Obama, so am I, but we can lose our heads right now.  I believe in Hillary and her message, that is why I am supporting her.  Don't dis her like that and vote for a republican who wants to destroy America, please.  Thanks

        by beth4hillary at 5/9/2008 6:10:15 PM

        • Voting

is not for the party it is for the person is what I read on a blog on Hillaryclintonforum;  I'm sure we will vote with our conscious when the GE comes.

Right now let's not debate who we will vote for in the fall and concentrate on our task at hand.

by cmt at 5/9/2008 6:55:43 PM

      • We need to focus on the next six contests!

We need to focus on the next six primaries and on FL and MI.
If FL and MI are not counted--and if Jr. is crowned with the nomination without MI and FL--then it is an invalid nomination.
Which means that it will have to go to the Convention Floor.
So let's just focus on that for now.
Hillary has many many supporters- and her coalition is diverse.
There are Hillary Democrats, Hillary Republicans and Hillary Independents. We all respect each other and what has us united is our belief that Hillary Clinton is the best choice and she will be one of the best Presidents in the History of the United States!
        Rise Hillary Rise!!

      Hillfamily,

If we CALL W. Virginia, Oregon and Kentucky and make sure she has the votes and money she needs to continue then we WILL NOT NEED TO DECIDE McCAIN OR BO?

As Hillary would say "ACTION speaks LOUDER than WORDS!"

PLEASE EVERYONE MAKE CALLS SO WE DON'T HAVE TO DECIDE AND MAKE IT A NO BRAINER.....HILLARY!

CALL .....CALL.....CALL..... 3 DAYS TO GO!

    Here's my advice

My advice ... Senator Clinton, Bill and the Clinton Foundation focus on breaking through with negotiations in Myanmar and save the millions at risk.

    3 Reasons
    1. The world failed in Rwanda, let's get it right now.

    2. Show of world leadership and ability to work around the U.N. when necessary.

    3. Big contrast to Obama if he weren't involved.

    • Open letter to the DNC and all undecided or yet decided Superdelegates

      Dear DNC, Dear SDs,
I write to you this letter with a very full heart.I am a clinton supporter from the bottom of my heart. I have never seen such a courageous, inspirational and smart person again in my lifetime. But my support is also based on political issues such as health insurance for everybody living in America with no exceptions and no excuses. This election is not only transforming America its consequence will be that we are about to help creating a better world without troops in iraq and with renewable green energy, which our allies started asking from our current President a long time ago. This country needs to be the leader it was former times, not onlyon behalf of America itself. But the direction the DNC is heading now on scares me. I think the decisions made about FL and MI are very destructive to the democratic party and this is not only the opinion of Clinton supporters, just ask Obama supporters from FL what they think. If you want to have a democratic president it should be one who is standing for all Americans and not just for some or most of them. We are at a very important point of the process to find a democratic candidate for presidency and we have two choices. There is Sen. Obama a nice, young and dynamic politician who causes a hype under younger democrats and there is Sen. Clinton, who inspires us with her experience, her toughness, her will to work harder and harder and her ideas about how to solve the problems we are facing without leaving the people behind. I want you SDs to please wait a four weeks so the 16.6 million supporters of Hillary CLinton and Sen. CLinton herself can show who should be standing on the top of the ticket in the fall. There is no reason for Sen. Obama or the media, who hurt the feelings of so many of us so massively, to say that this race is over. We can hear and read it every minute of the day that we should step aside. I am reading about many HRC supporters not to vote for Obama because they feel that he was never standing up for them or fighting for their voices. The media did not called them without a reason as "Hillary democrats" and they feel honored. Those will never vote for Sen. Obama. I think his time will come definetly but I am asking whether his time is now. Choose carefully because you judge over millions of American Dreams about a woman or an african american president. If Barack Obama fails and he is going to against Sen. McCain you destroyed all of them instead of making possible that all those dreams could become reality. Actually very important surveys are showing Sen. CLinton in front of McCain (for a while) while Senator Obama is tracking him since he is in the race. So please SDs don't make the mistake the DNC made with FL and MI and hear the voice of nearly 7 million voters in the upcoming primaries. And when you decide after June 3rd please listen also to you heart. At least me and so many other Cinton supporters want the DNC to find a way that 2.3 million people are represented as they should be! I hope you will remember my words. Thank you for your attention.

Could anybody post this on other blogs or to the DNC or SDs? I am not that into this stuff. thanks and god bless you Hill Family

Remember - Superdelegates can change their vote back and forth and again and they can change their vote at the convention.  Superdelegates don't need to make a decision until the convention and then they can change their vote again there!!!!

Marylin above is correct.  The focus of our energy should be making calls.  Don't worry if you're not all that smooth at it.  It's important to get out the vote.  Go to MAKE PHONE CALLS at the top right of this page.  This is the most important thing we can do now for Hillary to keep the process going.  She needs our help with this.  Let's do it for her and for us. Even a few calls are helpful.

Hillary is committed to let all the voters of 50 states express their right to vote, and for the voices of Florida and Michigan voters be heard.

Hillary cares for the everyday lives of Americans, and concern for global needs.

Hillary is a courageous, compassionate person who fights so that our citizens will have affordable healthcare, better economy, bringing home our troops from Iraq.

Hillary came from a humble beginning, supported herself, yet she commits her life to make a difference so that generation and generations to come will be able to go to college.

        MANY, MANY MORE!  GO HILLARY!

And I agree that she will certainly stay in the race until Florida and Michigan delegations being seated is worked out. Whether she wins the nomination or not this is a win for her.

      • Hi

I am surprise you seem to be losing faith or you have a down day.  I have some of those too.  One thing that keep me going is Hillary smile all around the news, and her rallies.

Whatever the outcome of this.  Hillary is staying because she is the only one that can ensure every voice is heard and every vote count.

Like she said in one of the debate she be find and She will be remember not only as a great president but because of her we learn history and we all democrats have a party that need to be reformed because is very undemocratic [caucus, open primary and early vote].

Herhistory is already made.  I will stay with her until she said so and more because I will continue to volunteer in whatever her future take her.

My primary already pass and I am changing to Independent to send notice to DNC that their behavior will not be rewarded.

      • We need to focus on winning!

        Hey Chris:
This race is far from over. We have six primaries left- don't the voters in those states count?
We have disenfranchised voters in MI and FL that must have their votes counted or we must have a revote---
If we do not have a re vote in MI or FL or have the votes counted as they were voted--then whoever is the nominee is not valid. Period.
Don't listen to the MSM and to the Obama Camp---it's all a spin game their playing...focus focus focus!
Donate and help out with phone calls!
